Data Management Plans: Implications for Automated Analyses

چکیده
Data management plans (DMPs) are an essential part of planning data-driven research projects and ensuring long-term access use data digital objects; however, as text-based documents, DMPs must be analyzed manually for conformance to funder requirements. This study presents a comparison evaluations 21 funded using 1) automated means analysis identify elements that align with best practices in support open initiatives 2) manually-applied scorecard measuring these same elements. The revealed terms related availability (90% DMPs), metadata (86% sharing (81% DMPs) were reliably supplied. Manual 86% (n = 18) adequate, strong discussions personnel (average score: 2 out 2), score 1.83 limitations 1.65 2). reveals the approach DMP assessment yields less granular yet similar results manual assessments more efficiently produced. Additional observations recommendations also presented make exercises even useful going forward.

Data Management Plans and Data Centers
Data management plans, data sharing plans and the like are now required by funders worldwide as part of research proposals. Concerned with promoting the notion of open scientific data, funders view such plans as the framework for satisfying the generally accepted requirements for data generated in funded research projects, among them that it be accessible, usable, standardized to the degree pos...
متن کاملAutomated verification of disaster plans in incident management
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to create a formal specification language for disaster plans in order to remove possible inconsistencies between disaster plans, and to enable the automated verification of properties from such plans against logs of actual incidents. Design/methodology/approach – Different types of properties in disaster plans have been identified and formalized using orde...
متن کاملHal: an Automated Pipeline for Phylogenetic Analyses of Genomic Data
The rapid increase in genomic and genome-scale data is resulting in unprecedented levels of discrete sequence data available for phylogenetic analyses. Major analytical impasses exist, however, prior to analyzing these data with existing phylogenetic software. Obstacles include the management of large data sets without standardized naming conventions, identification and filtering of orthologous...
متن کاملADAM: automated data management for research datasets
UNLABELLED Existing repositories for experimental datasets typically capture snapshots of data acquired using a single experimental technique and often require manual population and continual curation. We present a storage system for heterogeneous research data that performs dynamic automated indexing to provide powerful search, discovery and collaboration features without the restrictions of a...
متن کاملAn Automated Management Tool for Unstructured Data
The rapidly growing quantity of online data has created a need for automated, content-based categorization and search tools. The authors describe an open-source, Webbased archive management which uses latent semantic indexing, coupled with vector clustering techniques, to provide users with a fully searchable and automatically categorized interface to a data collection. The default English docu...
